5. Why Some Phones Won't Get Android 17
Not every device makes the cut — and there are solid technical and commercial reasons for it.

Note for Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a owners
Android 17 is the last major OS update for these three models. Security patches will continue until October 2026, after which support ends entirely. If you rely heavily on Android security updates, now is a good time to plan an upgrade.
